Meet Julia
Hi there!
I am Julia, and my passion for organization has deep roots in my upbringing. Growing up in a bustling family of six, I learned to handle chaos with ease from a young age. However, it was during my college years that I truly embraced the transformative power of decluttering. Helping my parents downsize their five-bedroom home as they prepared to move back to Taiwan while I transitioned into a studio near my school, I discovered the rejuvenating effect of letting go of excess belongings.
My journey towards becoming a professional organizer has been shaped by a series of relocations across the globe from Canada to Mexico to Taiwan to Japan to U.S. Each move honed my ability to create efficient and loving homes wherever life took me.
My approach to tidying has evolved over the years, drawing inspiration from various methodologies like Konmari and the Swedish Art of Death Cleaning. With each book I read, I integrate newfound wisdom into my own method, which I describe as simple and intuitive. For me, every surface and space in the home serves a purpose. Whether it’s a closet for storing clothes, a countertop for access to everyday items, or a wall to display joy, I believe in being the master of our home, placing the right item in the right place that makes sense for our lifestyle. When things are tidied, the whole home is easy to enjoy and relax in.
Prior to embarking on my journey as a professional organizer, I spent 8 years as a commercial interior designer in San Francisco. Now settled in Philadelphia with my husband and toddler son, I find joy in hobbies like origami and baking, infusing my life and work with creativity and warmth.
Besides Tidying
Fun Facts About Me
Bubble Tea Connoiseur
As a true boba tea aficionado, I not only make boba tea from scratch but also wrote a book about it. And did I mention I’ve sampled over 200 bubble tea shops in pursuit of the perfect blend of flavors?
Scrabble Wizard
Back in high school, I won a Scrabble tournament. My secret? Well, let’s just say my first word for the final was “Dwarf” – talk about a small but mighty start to the game!
Paper Crafter
I’ve always had a passion for paper crafts, which led me to have a greeting card booth at a holiday market in college. Now, to satiate my craving for paper, I create paper wreaths for my door for each season and holiday.
Flexibility Extraordinaire
Here’s a quirky one: I can overlap my big toe over my index toe and vice versa, a party trick that always gets a few double-takes.
Nap Expert
Need a nap? No problem! I have the unique ability to fall asleep in a car anywhere. However, getting my toddler to nap is another story. It seems he didn’t inherit my special power in that department!
Mountain Lover
I love hiking and used to hike every weekend; nature is like my backyard. Now, I’m trying to get my toddler to come along, but most of the time, I end up just carrying him instead.
